Susan Withers is an Accredited MBACP Counsellor with over 20 years’ experience, and a qualified teacher who has taught in both mainstream schools and Pupil Referral Units. Her qualifications include; Counsellor, Supervisor, Equine Assisted Therapist, Animal Assisted Therapist, Forest School Lead, Licensed Thrive and Family Thrive practitioner and Level 1 & 2 in Animal Assisted Play Therapy.
Susan currently works in schools and private practice, offering consultation, counselling, supervision, alternative provision interventions and bespoke therapy. Her network in Somerset is vast, including primary and secondary schools, educational psychologists, play therapists, GPs, Paediatricians and Local Authorities.
Susan has worked alongside many professionals and organisations in supporting their SEMH needs. She has associates and volunteers who work with her, and her work is underpinned by evidenced-based approaches and informed with current neuroscience. She also has an enhanced DBS.
Head of Therapeutic Interventions for Children and Young People, and Animal Welfare
Phoebe has a degree in BSc Hons of Animal Science and Conservation. She is a counsellor in training and is a ISCP Canine Practitioner. Phoebe is currently studying to be a canine trainer. She also works part time in a vets’ practice.
Phoebe is responsible for the animal welfare at Alder Barn Therapy. She is the Head of Therapeutic Interventions for children and young people.
